Balluff offers a long-range Factor 1 sensor targeted at applications where sensors encounter high levels of magnetic interference from sources such as transformers, motors, drives or welders.

The Factor 1 sensor range detects differing metals at the same distance and also saves time during installation as its long-range feature means that minimal sensor adjustment during set-up is required.

The Balluff Factor 1+ range is available in sizes M8 to M30.

The M18 versions have a flush range of 8mm and a quasi-flush mounting with a 12mm sensing range.

These sensors were originally designed with welding applications in mind.

They are immune to magnetic DC and AC fields up to strengths of 100KA/m.

Factor 1 sensors incorporate a Balluff-developed multi-coil design that enables them to sense both ferrous and non-ferrous metals at the same distance.

The PTFE coating helps protect the sensor from weld slag and weld flash.

Balluff Factor 1+ sensors also provide the opportunity to standardise on a smaller number of sensor designs, which can lower supply chain and tool crib stocking costs, especially for welding operations and where detection of metals in addition to mild steel, such as aluminium, are required.

Maintenance costs and time are further reduced by the ability to quickly position the sensor well away from the target minimising any possibility of impact damage.

Balluff has over 50 years of sensor experience and is a leading global sensor specialist with its own line of connectivity products for every area of factory automation and industrial control.

Everyday, all over the world, Balluff sensors are increasing production throughput and product quality for thousands of satisfied users striving to improve their manufacturing processes and lower their costs.
