Stemmer Imaging has introduced Dalsa’s BOA smart vision system, which complements the existing ’Vision Appliance’ (VA) range.

BOA is suitable for end users, vision integrators and OEMs.

It is features inbuilt software and can be configured via a standard web browser interface, eliminating the need for programming.

This sophisticated self-contained unit features a VGA CCD sensor and a host of integrated facilities, including multiple processing engines (CPU + DSP), light control, two OPTO inputs and two OPTO outputs, communication control and application software for manufacturers and system integrators.

A software development kit is also supplied for machine builders and small-equipment manufacturers.

BOA is contained in an ultra compact, IP-rated industrial enclosure.

The small cubic form factor of 44 x 44 x 44mm and easy mounting capabilities allow it to integrate easily into existing production lines, machinery or moving equipment.

The IP67-rated housing and an optional water-tight lens cover accommodates a variety of C-mount focal length lenses.

This allows the camera to be accommodated in the most demanding of production-line environments, including those requiring wash down, without the need for costly enclosures.

The camera utilises an updated version of the Inspect software, which, with multi-language support, is ideal for first-time and experienced vision users.

Inspect provides capabilities for an extensive range of inspection tasks, such as positioning, identification, verification, measurement and flaw detection.

No programming or extensive training is required and the software can be readily accessed using any web browser by connecting a computer via a standard Ethernet connection.

The powerful scripting capability offered by Inspect can script the inspection process and run as a background script for application control, which could, for example, allow monitoring of an I/O line for trend analysis.

The software connects directly to a variety of Ethernet-ready factory devices such as PLCs and extended I/O modules, along with Dalsa’s I-Collect software, which provides a factory-wide audit trail of the cameras’ use, simplifying deployment of CFR21 Part 11 production lines.

For end users and vision integrators, Inspect software offers an emulator for offline application development and debugging.

STEMMER IMAGING is Europe’s largest imaging technology provider with headquarters in Germany and subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, France and Switzerland.

Image processing or Machine Vision is used in many different application areas – such as industrial automation, medical imaging, security and traffic technology – as a powerful and cost effective way of implementing automatic quality assurance. Even at high speeds and with stringent accuracy requirements, image processing allows 100% monitoring and thus strengthens the competitive edge of those companies using it.

STEMMER IMAGING customers have access to a wide variety of imaging products from the worlds leading manufacturers. These manufacturers represent the cutting edge of vision technology which is something that is unique in Europe. STEMMER IMAGING are the developers of the world’s leading image processing software platform, Common Vision Blox, and as a manufacturer of customer-specific products, we have a full range of in-house expertise to draw on, allowing us to supply the best possible service to our customers when choosing an imaging solution. STEMMER IMAGING does not produce turn-key solutions – instead, using our close partnerships with a large number of experienced system integrators, we can provide expert technical know-how for the planning, integration and realisation of complete solutions.
