Bosch Rexroth has supplied PTZ Weidner with ball screws and roller guides for use in its giant ring cutters (GRC), which are used for separating rings — such as turret rings, flanges, seals and bearings — from feedstock.

The GRC’s three chucking jaws — driven by Rexroth ball screws — hold the ring in place during rotation and enable a clean cut to be made.

Size 65 stiff Rexroth roller guides are used to reduce the machine’s vibration so that its noise emissions are only 70–74dB(A), including in the non-encapsulated version.

The roller guides also set the insertion depth of the machine’s saw blade, which can be used to separate rings manufactured from stainless steel and other alloys at diameters of up to 9,000mm and wall thicknesses of up to 30mm.

Key information
