Bowers Group will be exhibiting a selection of measuring instruments, including several recently launched products, at the Make Measurement Matter roadshow. The event takes place on 16 October 2014 at the DW Stadium.

Bowers will be demonstrating the two-point Microgauge bore gauging system, designed to accurately measure small bores, as well as the small and accurate XTA analogue bore gauge

Also on display will be the cost-effective Sylvac D300S, which has an advanced new digital readout unit that is able to display the absolute displacement position of Sylvac’s accurate transducer probes to a resolution of 0.1um. In addition, Bowers’ S_Dial Work digital indicator range will be put through its paces by the Bowers staff.

Reflecting the growing importance of automated data collection, Bowers will be linking several instruments to the recently launched Sylconnect. The multifunctional software allows the connection of 16 gauges to a computer by USB cable or Sylvac VMux Software that enables the connection of up to 32 Bluetooth BLE signals from various instruments.

Key features and benefits

Small bores

  • The Microgauge is designed specifically for the accurate measurement of bores from 1–6mm
  • It is said to be extremely compact and user friendly.
  • Features include a completely new integral digital readout.
  • The Microgauge benefits from two-point localised contact with the bore to be measured; further bore features, such as ovality, taper and barrelling, can also be evaluated.
  • The XTA analogue bore gauge has been developed on the request of customers looking for a smaller and more accurate (0.002mm resolution) micrometer body for measuring diameters between 6mm and 20mm and ¼in and ¾in.

Sylvac D300S

  • This advanced new digital readout unit is able to display the absolute displacement position of Sylvac’s accurate transducer probes to a resolution of 0.1um.
  • It is said to be ideal for use within inspection departments or on the shop floor.
  • It has a highly visible 8.5in LCD touchscreen digital display and is capable of accepting readings from Sylvac, Heidenhein or Inductive probe inputs.
  • The readout is able to memorise previously input configurations and values and can recall both individual or group preset values.
  • Each of the D300S’s channels has a separate maths function, while all channels have switchable numeric/analogue and statistical displays.

S_Dial Work

  • The ‘shop-floor-proof’ indicators are available with measuring capacities of 12.5mm and 25mm and a choice of 0.01mm and 0.001mm resolutions.
  • Repeatability specification is 0.002mm.
  • It is designed to operate in harsh measuring environments, such as within close proximity to machine tools.
  • The eight-model range has an IP67 rating, rendering the devices resistant to the ingress of water and coolant, even when fitted with data connection cables.
  • If required, S_Dial Work indicators can be programmed manually or by a PC (disabling and enabling various modes and button function).
  • They are able to transmit their readings via RS232, USB or Digimatic or by use of wireless devices or the built-in Bluetooth BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) option.
