Alloy T41 information sheet - .PDF file.

Broder Metals Group has recommended that manufacturers of fasteners and fixings should prepare for a potential shortage of large-diameter bars of Alloy T41. The alloy is suitable for use in the production of fasteners and fixings for the energy production and oil and gas industries, particularly in Europe.

According to Mark Burton, managing director of Broder Metals Group, manufacturers could quickly find themselves struggling to locate Alloy T41 bars in anything bigger than a 4.75in (120mm) diameter following an announcement from the mill that supplies its alloy stock.

He said: ‘We have just been informed that BGH, our mill supplier, will be restricting its size range in future to up to and including 4.75in in diameter. If a manufacturer comes to us with a request for T41 bars between 5in and 6in in diameter, the mill will check to see if they can accommodate the order, but anything larger than 6in in diameter will not be produced in future.’
