CEDRAT has announced the development of co‐simulation methods to tightly integrate its Flux electromagnetic simulation software with LMS Imagine.Lab Amesim, mechatronic simulation software for model‐based systems engineering. This connection between the two software is focused on electric machines and actuators but will also include generic co‐simulation features.

According to Vincent Marché, marketing director at CEDRAT, the multi‐domain approach enables users to accurately predict the behaviour of an entire system, within reasonable computational times.

Using a single model, he added, it is possible to include various physical effects and analyse how they interact with the other — like electromechanical and hydraulic ones, electronic drive, and so on.

Florent Pasteur, product manager at LMS Amesim Electromechanical solution, added that the co‐simulation with an electro‐technical FEA software expands the usage of LMS Amesim in the design cycle, which extends the mechatronic engineer’s range of possibilities to virtually design their devices with high-fidelity models embedded in systems simulation.

The solution will be available in version 12 of Flux in January 2015.
