At the Advanced Engineering 2013 group of events, CGTech will demonstrate the latest version of its Vericut CNC machine simulation and optimisation software. Vericut 7.3 includes enhancements that improve performance and further simplify the process of simulating a CNC machine.

Vericut CNC machine simulation, verification and optimisation software enables users to eliminate the process of manually proving out NC programs. The company said that the software reduces scrap and rework and optimises NC programs in order to save time and produce a higher-quality surface finish.

Vericut simulates all types of CNC machine tools, including those from DMG-Mori Seiki, Mazak, Makino, Matsuura, Hermle, Starrag, Heller and Chiron.

The software runs standalone but can also be integrated with CAM systems such as Dassault Systèmes Catia, Siemens NX, MasterCAM, Delcam Powermill, Vero EdgeCAM, Open Mind Hypermill, DP Esprit and Missler TopsolidCAM.

CGTech will be on Stand D202 in Hall 5 at Advanced Engineering 2013, which will take place on 12–13 November 2013 at the NEC in Birmingham.

Key features and benefits

  • User-configurable ‘favourites’ simplify the setup of a simulation session. Favourites can consist of commonly used folders and files and each item can be dragged/dropped into a project.
  • An ‘edge display’ option analyses models and finds and displays their edges, all without affecting simulation speed.
  • The Vericut 7.3 user interface features all-new icons, available in multiple sizes and with several user-selectable colour themes. Every window and icon can be optionally displayed or hidden.
  • During simulation, a user can create a list of ‘stop at’ events, such as ‘collisions’, ‘warnings’, tool changes’ or ‘end of each setup’. These can be managed interactively in the NC program dialogue. The user can add, move, remove or temporarily disable the events that pause the simulation.
  • Performance in Vericut 7.3 is now five to 10 times faster when the NC program moves the simulated machine into potential collision conditions.
  • Enhancements to Vericut’s collision algorithms remove the need to adjust complex machine models to improve performance.
