ESAB is giving readers of Manufacturingtalk the chance to win a Caddymig C160i portable MIG/MAG welding unit with a built-in wire feeder, ideal for agricultural, transport and education applications.

The Caddymig machine, also said to be suitable for auto-repair, light metal fabrication, household and furniture and tack welding applications, is a compact, inverter-powered unit offering excellent portability, according to the company.

The lightweight unit weighs just 11.4kg and is used for the MIG/MAG welding of mild steels for repair and maintenance and assembly work in the workshop, outdoors or at different sites.

The unit can be used off a single-phase 230V mains connection; alternatively, it can be powered by a 5.5Kva portable generator.

The unit can be used with gasless cored wire.

These new Caddymig inverter units incorporate several time-saving and quality-enhancing features, according to ESAB.

The C160i offers semi-automatic welding and versatility.

Configured for mild steels, the unit provides an automatic voltage setting, optimised for 0.8mm solid or cored wires and plate thickness from 0.5mm to more than 4mm.

The unit has a power factor correction that gives 30 per cent more power from the same fuse size and complies with European Harmonics demands; in other words, it uses energy efficiently.

The Caddymig C160i comes complete with 3m torch, a 3m mains cable including a plug, a 4.5m gas hose with a quick connector and a hose clamp, a return cable with a clamp, a simple shoulder strap, fitted wear parts in a torch/feeder (for 0.8mm wire) and an instruction manual.

Also included is 1kg of ESAB OK Autrod 12.51 0.8mm copper-coated wire for mild-steel welding results.
