Chloride Power Protection, a European supplier of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and services, has launched its upgraded Active range of single-phase UPS systems.

Incorporating a green-mode function, the Active range now allows automated shutdown of the UPS unit when there is no load supported by it, preventing energy wastage.

Active is available from 700VA to 3,000VA and provides efficiencies of up to 97 per cent, making it suitable for protecting business-critical systems, such as servers, networks, workstations and voiceover internet protocol (VoIP) technologies, according to the company.

Active’s rack/tower convertible design allows it to be deployed in either tower or rack format, making it appropriate for environments where space is at a premium.

It fits into a standard rack cabinet, requiring minimum space.

The enhanced Active range features light-emitting-diode (LED) and LCD user interfaces.

With its external battery packs, Active allows for an increased range of autonomies, giving further flexibility in the management of an organisation’s backup power infrastructure, according to Chloride.

Offering an output power factor of 0.9 for both leading and lagging loads, Active’s high resilience provides maximum power to load, supporting leading loads without derating.

Through Active’s controllable output sockets, organisations can manage the loads, which are protected by the UPS.

Rob Tanzer, Chloride’s technical support manager, said: ‘By incorporating leading-edge technologies and using advanced connectivity options, combined with its ability to manage critical loads in a variety of applications, this UPS system can actively contribute towards your green IT goals.’ Additionally, the new version of Active is fully compatible with Chloride’s connectivity solutions, providing centralised control of distributed or remote UPS systems and enabling safe network shutdown.

Tanzer added that the company’s solutions are enabling customers to maximise system uptime and preserve vital data.
