Avago Technologies has announced the launch of a LED emitter for solid-state lighting applications that measures 5 x 4 x 1.85mm.

The compact, 1W ASMT-Jx1x is offered in a small outline package and is capable of being driven at 350mA to provide high flux output performance.

Additionally, the LED emitter provides a wide viewing angle, has moisture sensitivity level one (MSL 1) capability, and is reliable.

The 1W LED emitter is ideal for use in lighting applications where space is constrained.

Typical applications include portable lighting appliances, street lighting, architectural facade lighting, retail display lighting, backlighting and specialty lighting applications.

Despite its compact size, the ASMT-Jx1x provides a maximum viewing angle of 165-degrees to meet the needs of designers who require good colour and light output uniformity in their lighting applications.

Avago’s ASMT-Jx1x is designed to handle high thermal and high drive currents.

By delivering a high flux output of up to 87 lumens (lm) at 350mA, the LED features a maximum allowable junction temperature of 150C and high electrostatic discharge (ESD) resistance of 16 kV, which makes the LED insensitive to ESD.

As a result, special ESD protection equipment is not required to handle the part during installation.

Moreover, the 1W LED is compatible with standard SMT reflow soldering processes and helps lower design cost while providing lighting designers with more freedom and flexibility in designing their applications.

The LED is available in red, amber, green, blue, cool white, neutral white and warm white colours.

It features an electrically-isolated heat sink and has a long operating life.

The LED is energy efficient, has low thermal resistance, is ISO and QS9000 certified, is Pb-Free and RoHS compliant.
