Concepts NREC will hold a free turbomachinery computer-aided-engineering (CAE) software workshop on 6 October in conjunction with the 39th Annual Turbomachinery Symposium.

The company will be found in Booth 730 at the show, which is scheduled to take place on 5-7 October at the George R Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.

The free CAE software workshop, which will start at 9:00, will take place at the Hilton Americas-Houston in Room 337A-B.

‘We will focus on the advanced volute design, full computational fluid dynamics [CFD] and turbocharger matching capabilities of our software,’ said George Zitka of Concepts NREC.

Attendees will view a demonstration of the features found in the company’s Agile Engineering Design System (AEDS) 2010 and Turbomatch software solutions.

For the first topic – advanced volute design – attendees will learn how to use AEDS 2010 for a step or shelf on either or both sides of the volute for pump-style types.

The next topic – full 360 CFD – is for flow passages run in Pushbutton CFD, which is mostly used for off-design volute analysis, but is applicable to any machine design.

The turbocharger matching topic will look at how Turbomatch is used for the system-level modelling of key components in a turbocharger system, including the intake, compressor, intercooler, engine, turbine, waste gate and exhaust.

Concepts NREC’s AEDS 2010 software covers all aspects of turbomachinery design and analysis.

Its integrated CAE tools assist in the development of rotating machinery such as turbines, compressors, fans and pumps from preliminary design, detailed design, CFD and finite element analysis (FEA) to optimisation.

The Turbomatch software incorporates advanced compressor and turbine design as part of an overall engine system.

The integrated approach accommodates the complex interaction between the system components to give anyone responsible for the design, specification or building of turbocharged engines an accurate and fast tool for developing products that meet strict emissions standards and regulations.
