Micro-Epsilon has introduced a new version of its Configuration Tools software, which is designed to speed up and simplify the configuration of its Scancontrol series of laser scanners.

Scancontrol Configuration Tools v3.0 enables users to configure their laser scanners using a Windows PC or laptop. It includes optimised measuring functions, such as new profile analysis features and measurement value calculations, as well as an improved user interface.

Smart series Scancontrol sensors provide users with all the functionality of the software, including the data logging of live measurements and sensor output configurations. The controller stores all settings, allowing the sensors to function in standalone mode without use of a PC.

Scancontrol sensors from the Compact and High-Speed series can also be operated using Scancontrol Configuration Tools. Here, the software simulates the evaluation based on the live or offline profile of the connected sensor.

Scancontrol Smart laser scanners

  • The Smart series includes the Scancontrol 2710 (compact) and 2810 (fast and precise) products.
  • The scanners are pre-programmed for solving basic measurement tasks with a focus on a special measured value (for example width and height of a gap) derived from an evaluated profile; they are configured for this task using software and operate in standalone mode.
  • Pre-programmed measurement applications include the recognition and tracking of angles, steps and positions and the detection of adhesive beads, weld seams or grooves with dynamic tracking.

Scancontrol Compact laser scanners

  • The Compact seres includes the Scancontrol 2700 product.
  • Used as data supplier for the customer’s own integration, for example, they generate a profile of calibrated points and transfer this profile to the respective application software.
  • An additional controller is not required for operation.
  • Profile data is transferred using a Firewire or Ethernet interface.

Scancontrol High-Speed laser scanners

  • The High-Speed range includes the Scancontrol 2750 and 2800 products.
  • The scanners are used as fast data suppliers for the customer’s own integration; in other words, they generate a profile of calibrated points and transfer this profile data to the customer’s own application software.
  • A high data rate provides decisive benefits for the scanning of surfaces.
  • Profile transfer to the application software is carried out using Firewire or Ethernet.
