Cordex launches explosion-proof digital cameras

By Cordex Instruments on 21st February 201115th December 2015

Product Details Supplier Info More products

Cordex Instruments has launched the Toughpix 2300XP series of explosion-proof digital cameras, which can be used in hazardous areas and in low-light environments.

The new series has been developed to complement the company’s Centurion XP range.

The Toughpix 2300XP series includes many of the same functions as the Centurion XP along with several new features, such as an onboard memory of up to 8Gb.

This larger memory enables the camera to capture even more high-quality still and moving images, in AVI format, with a resolution of up to 10 megapixels.

This not only allows the maintenance professional to get the most from his or her survey time but also ensures that images of equipment and processes are crisp and detailed.

Images are then transferred via high-speed USB to a PC in a safe area.

The IP54 camera body is made from anodised aluminium with anti-static over-mould.

It has a backlit, armoured-glass, 2.4in (6.1cm) LCD screen for image capture and instant review in the field and incorporates onboard, fully automatic strobe flash for image capture in extreme, low-light environments.

The Toughpix 2300XP series also introduces red-eye reduction to the feature set, which also includes 6x digital zoom.

The company claims that the large controls are optimally located so that, even if the user is wearing thick protective gloves, the camera is straightforward to use.

The new Toughpix 2300XP series is Atex certified for image capture within a Zone 1 IIC T4 hazardous (explosive) area.

The user does not need a hot-work permit to use the new cameras.

They are powered by a dedicated, removable and rechargeable NiMH battery.

All models in the Toughpix series come complete with battery, charging station, power pack, battery removal tool, USB communication wand, documentation CD and hard-carrying case.

Also standard is a hand strap to provide extra stability when shooting images.
