At the Metalloobrabotka exhibition in Moscow on 16–20 June 2014, Delcam will highlight robotic machining with a demonstration of machining by a robot programmed with Powermill Robot. The company will also showcase its range of design, machining and inspection software, showing the latest functionality in Delcam’s Powershape Pro CAD software, Powermill and FeatureCAM CAM systems, and Powerinspect inspection software.

According to Delcam, Powermill Robot software makes it as easy to program a robot for machining as it is to program a five-axis machine tool. Furthermore, users have access to the range of multi-axis machining strategies within Powermill.

Powermill Robot can be used to simulate the complete machining operation and to control the robot’s movements through different variables, such as axis limits, axis priorities and workplane constraints. Various aspects within the configuration of the robot cell, such as axis limits, tool constraints and home position, can be defined, and the simulation of the robot completed within these constraints.

  • FeatureCAM 2014 R2 includes the Vortex area-clearance strategy.
  • It also provides support for milling and drilling with right-angle heads, and one-stop programming of multiple roughing operations.
