At Advanced Engineering, Delcam is to demonstrate programs such as Powershape for product and tooling design, FeatureCAM for feature-based CAM programming, Powermill CAM software for high-speed and five-axis machining, the Delcam for Solidworks integrated CAM system and Powerinspect for inspection.

The Advanced Engineering events will be held at the NEC in Birmingham on 7–8 November 2012.

Products in detail

Powershape 2013

  • Enhancements have been made to its direct modelling and reverse-engineering capabilities
  • Solid and surface modelling options have been made faster and more robust
  • The software features a comprehensive range of modelling techniques
  • Having all the different technologies in one package reduces the need to transfer data between multiple programs

FeatureCAM 2013

  • FeatureCAM offers quick and easy programming
  • Increased range of strategies provides more efficient toolpaths, giving greater productivity on a wider range of machines
  • Three levels of 3D machining functionality are available; Featuremill 3D Lite offers single-surface machining with a basic range of strategies — suitable for companies moving into 3D machining for the first time

Powermill 2013

  • Powermill features the Vortex strategy for high-speed area clearance
  • Vortex is designed to gain the maximum benefit from solid-carbide tooling
  • It can be used for two- and three-axis roughing, three-plus-two-axis area clearance and for rest machining based on stock models or reference toolpaths
  • Vortex toolpaths are calculated to give more efficient machining by following the shape of the part and by keeping air moves to a minimum

Delcam for Solidworks 2013

  • Software combines benefits associated with Powermill and FeatureCAM, including speed of toolpath calculation, advanced strategies for high-speed and five-axis machining and ease of use
  • An entry-level 3D milling option is included
  • It is compatible with the latest release of Solidworks

Powerinspect 2013

  • Powerinspect compares parts, prototypes and tooling against CAD models using a range of portable, optical and CNC co-ordinate measurement machines (CMMs)
  • Simplified procedure allows users to quickly calibrate the probe assembly by probing a single point anywhere within the measuring envelope
  • Offset-alignment method aligns the part with the axes of the CMM while setting the position with a single point measurement
  • Point-cloud options make it easier to modify and reuse digitised curves and points with options for editing, deleting and resuming measurement of points and curves
  • Automated section-measurement functionality is available in both the OMV and CNC offline-programming versions of Powerinspect

Delcam supplies software and services that help manufacturing companies to maximise their profitability by increasing productivity, improving quality and reducing lead times. The company is the world's largest specialist supplier of computer-aided machining software, with its PowerMILL, FeatureCAM, Partmaker and ArtCAM programs making up the most comprehensive range of CAM systems from any developer.

This broad selection allows Delcam to offer a CAM system capable of machining virtually any product, in any material on any type of equipment. Delcam also develops product design, tooling design and quality control programs. The unique Tribrid Modelling approach to design incorporates solid modelling, surface modelling and triangle modelling in a single program, enabling complete design and reverse engineering projects to be undertaken without transferring data between software.

Delcam's Powerinspect offers fast, reliable comparison of parts, prototypes and tooling against CAD data on all types of inspection equipment and even on machine tools. This versatility has made it the world's leading hardware-independent inspection software. Related programs are available for checking machine tool set-up and part location. Delcam software is used in over 80 countries worldwide by around 40,000 organisations, from large multi-nationals to small sub-contractors, in industries including aerospace, automotive, dental, engineering, footwear, medical and toolmaking.
