Delcam will be supporting CNC Robotics in its promotion of machining with robots using the PowerMILL Robot programming system on stand G37 at the Interplas exhibition, which is due to be held at the NEC in Birmingham from 30 September to 2 October.

Programming with PowerMILL Robot means that robots can be used in a variety of finishing operations, including the trimming and drilling of moulded components. In addition, robots can be used for a variety of other multi-axis machining operations, including pattern making, model making and mould making. In all cases, the PowerMILL Robot software makes it as easy to program a robot for machining as it is to program a five-axis machine tool. 

Furthermore, with PowerMILL Robot, users have access to the comprehensive range of multi-axis machining strategies within PowerMILL and can use all the system’s project management options to manage, store and retrieve data quickly and easily.

To ensure safe and efficient operation, PowerMILL Robot can simulate the complete machining operation and can control the robot’s movements through different variables, such as axis limits, axis priorities and workplane constraints. Various aspects within the configuration of the robot cell, such as axis limits, tool constraints and home position, can be defined, and the simulation of the robot completed within those constraints.

Once the results of the simulation have been reviewed, and modified if necessary, the program can be output in the appropriate robot native language, for example for KUKA, ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa Motoman or Stäubli equipment, eliminating any need for third-party translation software.
