Air Science has introduced the DWS downflow workstations, a range of small bench-mounted units with unrestricted access for operations that are difficult to perform in a conventional fume hood.

The units operate at low noise levels and recirculate air so that expensive conditioned and/or heated air is not exhausted into the atmosphere.

To provide protection, the downflow action takes contaminated air away from the operator and an alarm will sound when the airflow falls to an unacceptable level.

The main filter can be chosen from 14 different types of carbon, which include specialty media for vapours of organics, solvents, acids, mercury and formaldehyde.

HEPA filters for particulate filtration are also available to suit the application.

GYS is offering a lightweight, single-phase, 230V plasma cutter 21KF, featuring an in-built 60/70dB air compressor and dehumidifier, for use in applications where no compressed air is available.

The plasma cutter can be used in workshops and on site in agricultural, construction, quarrying, and engineering applications.

Utilising inverter technology, it is designed to cut at up to 20A using a 13A fuse plug, producing low-intensity quality cuts on 6mm-thick steel, stainless steel and cast iron sheets as well as on 4mm aluminium and copper sheets, including on painted surfaces, without any distortion.

The GYS Pilot Arc system enables the arc to start without any contact with the sheet being cut, making it easy to use.

Starting without any HF avoids any electromagnetic interference.

Other features include a 4m air-cooled torch with a safety trigger to avoid any accidental starting of the unit, reinforced protection for use with a generator, over-voltage tested up to 400V and offers IP23 protection against rain and dust impregnation.

Options include a compass kit for circular cutting up to 134cm diameter, and a wheeled trolley to optimise the cutting distance between the work surface and the torch nozzle.
