E-T-A Circuit Breakers is offering a bespoke systems service designed to facilitate the installation and use of E-T-A circuit protection products in a range of applications.

The service covers manufacturing and process control and is suitable for the telecommunications, petro-chemical, pharmaceutical, aerospace and defence industries.

The customised service involves designing solutions in conjunction with the customer and building them fully interconnected to an agreed schedule.

Recent success with an automotive manufacturer has reduced downtime by up to 70 per cent, according to the company.

E-T-A offers a range of different circuit-breaker configurations, complemented by accessories, terminal blocks and power distribution rails.

The bespoke service offering extends from the design and manufacture of bus bars, switch panels and other accessory items to complete pre-wired distribution sub-racks and power control systems.

The Pro-EO software enables E-T-A designers to create 3D computer models for the demonstration of their ideas and to respond rapidly to enquiries.

Products such as the E-T-A ESS20 electronic circuit breaker and the ESX10 electronic circuit protector can be mounted in groups in the rack-mountable SVS09 power distribution system, providing protection at the device level in automated process control, production plants and power plants.

The ESS20 and the ESX10 can also be specified for customised 19in (68cm) racks and other power distribution modules.

Their selective disconnection of 24VDC switch-mode power supply (SMPS) loads can reduce plant downtime.

A variety of mounting configurations is available to help provide the best solution for individual applications.

Some models are pluggable, utilising E-T-A mounting sockets, offering versatility, particularly during service and maintenance, while track-mountable products are available for installation in control cabinets.

As a further option, users can select securely fixed panel-mounted circuit breakers.

The company claims that the correct selection of circuit protection, including current ratings and trip characteristics, is crucial to ensure that neither the cables nor the load are damaged by overload or short circuit.

It is also important to avoid any adverse effects on the power supply or loads adjacent to a faulty circuit, according to E-T-A.

The company’s electro-mechanical and electronic circuit breakers and protectors are said to be suitable for this purpose.

Many E-T-A circuit-breaker models offer optional auxiliary contacts that facilitate remote diagnostics and monitoring.

Pushbutton, toggle and rocker actuators are available to suit a range of different needs, as well as actuator guards to prevent inadvertent operation.

The selection criteria to determine the most suitable circuit-breaker type for a particular application include general design requirements, current rating, the number of output circuits and space available, termination and the cable size to be protected, along with mechanical parameters such as the mounting method preferred and marking.
