A DB 89 electric bending machine from Addison Mckee has enabled a manufacturer of stairlifts to ensure a smoother ride for its customers.

According to the company, the electric machine ‘teaches’ itself and reduces set-up times, automatically making any necessary adjustments and eliminating the need for manual resetting.

As no two staircases are exactly the same and many have a gentle curvature, one of the customer’s prime requirements was the capability for freeform bending.

Key benefits of product application

  • The DB 89 machine uses rollers on the die and clamp, then pushes the tube to generate an infinitely variable radius between the rollers; a minor angle variation put into the bend arm is reflected in the tube radius as it is pushed forward.
  • Regardless of where the metal is sourced from and regardless of its grade, the machine produces repeatable components that match the original drawings first time.
