Aaeon’s AEC-6612 Embedded Controller is suited for applications in the transportation, factory control, building automation, marine, vehicle, traffic light system and machine automation markets.

Part of Aaeon’s Boxer Lite series, the AEC-6612 is based on the Intel Atom D510 processor and offers a compact size with a good balance of performance, according to the company.

The AEC-6612 adopts the Intel Atom D510 1.66GHz processor and DDR2 SODIMM system memory (up to 2GB).

The unit’s LCD/CRT controller is integrated into the Intel Atom D510 and shares the system memory (up to 384MB).

The AEC-6612 features rich I/O interfaces and users can select two COM and two USB ports for a standard deployment, or equip an optional six COM ports and six USB 2.0 ports for an advanced installation.

For faster network communication, this model equips two Gigabit Ethernets to deal with high-speed transmissions.

The AEC-6612 enables communication with diverse devices simultaneously.

The unit also features two PCI-Express Mini-Card slots that allow end users or VARs to flexibly integrate to existing systems and meet the requirements in demanding niche markets.

The controller is suited for space-limited applications and deploys a 2.5in SATA Hard Disk Drive bay and an easily accessible Compactflash Slot for large storage requirements.

The passive heat-spreading system is based on the aluminum alloy chassis designed by Aaeon.

‘This embedded controller can multi-task with optimised performance and low power consumption, and is risk free from cooling fan damage,’ said Owen Huang, product manager of Aaeon’s Panel Appliance and Automation Division.

The AEC-6612 offers a DC input range of 9 to 30V with a ATX/ACPI power mode that can support Intel Hyper Threading Technology for fully computing power of the Intel Atom processor.

Customers can also choose the optional model with 12V DC input.

The AEC-6612 is compatible with common operating systems such as WinCE 6.0, Windows XP Embedded, Windows XP, Windows 7 and Linux Fedora.
