Industrial PC manufacturer Aaeon has launched the AEC-6620 embedded controller, targeted at the public transportation system and infrastructure in developing countries.

The controller is an advanced model of the AEC-64XX series and belongs to the Fan-less Intelligent Transportation family.

The AEC-6620 adopts the Intel Atom N270 processor (up to 1.6GHz) and equips one DDR2 Sodimm (maximum 2GB system memory).

In addition, it has two Gigabit Ethernet ports for faster network communications and includes one internal Compactflash slot for storage.

The AEC-6620 also accommodates one RS232/422/485 port, four USB 2.0 ports, VGA and a line-out to satisfy the basic demands of media broadcasting.

Linux Wang, product manager of panel appliance and automation division at Aaeon, said: ‘For targeting the transportation market demands, the AEC-6620 provides ATX/ACPI power function and supports DC input and optional AC input to guarantee the power management.

‘The AEC-6620 is compatible with Windows XP Pro Embedded, Windows XP Embedded, Windows 7 and Linux.

‘The fan-less AEC-6620 integrates an ultra-slim size with excellent heat-spreading features, high reliability and flexible I/O interfaces.

‘It is an ideal solution for the vertical market segment,’ he added.

The AEC-6620 is constructed from a rugged aluminium alloy chassis with a patented heat-spreading design.

It can be wall mounted or din railed.

The model is mobile, resists vibrations, and can handle harsh environments (with the requirements of wide operating temperature).
