Engel will be showing five exhibits from its automotive, packaging, teletronics, medical and technical moulding divisions at Plast Milano 2009, from 24 to 28 March, in Milan.

Engel will be presenting energy-optimised solutions for all relevant industries.

The first machine up for demonstration is the Engel duo 500 pico.

The duo 500 pico brings the strengths of large scale machines to the 5000kN clamping force class.

The machine has a minimal footprint and low weight due to a compact dual-platen clamping system and offers a dry cycle time of 2.6s.

At Plast Milano, Engel will be showing an automotive application on a duo 3550/500 pico.

The Engel E-max was first exhibited at K 2007.

The machine offers a small footprint due to its integrated drive and control technology.

It comes with a central power supply for the servo drives, including recovery of braking energy.

An Engel E-max 310/100 with a clamping force of 1000kN will be on show at Plast, demonstrating the production of an electronic component using a mould by FCI Austria (Mattighofen).

An Engel E-motion 740/180 with a clamping force of 1800kN will demonstrate that fully electric machines are well suited for deployment in injection moulding for the packaging industry.

High-precision parallel movements in particular – using independently actuating electrical motors – mean that the machine is suited to high-speed applications.

The machine will be producing a round cup with in-mould labelling on a two-fold mould by Hofstetter.

Manufacturing of COC vaccine receptacles using a mould by Koebelin/Eichstetten (D) with a four-fold mould on an Engel E-motion 200/55 demonstrates a further field of application for the fully electric machine.

The machine is designed for sterile production in a cleanroom for deployment in medical technology.

Optimised for cleanroom applications, the machine has an encapsulated barrel that helps optimise particulate and heat emissions, along with encapsulated injection unit drives and cleanroom capable, corrosion-resistant mould mounting platens with cleanroom plating.

Engel will also be demonstrating the production of a fitting produced using two-component technology on an Engel Combimelt machine.

While injecting the polypropylene fitting with TPE seals on an Engel Victory 500H/80W/120 Combi, the part is labelled directly in the mould during the same step.

Additionally, an Engel E-victory 80/50 LIM will be demonstrating the production of an LSR membrane for a respirator at the Wacker stand.
