A Fanuc Robotics’ six-axis robot is being used by Carclo Technical Plastics for the assembly of a multi-compartment cuvette, and the checking of its components.

Carclo Technical Plastics specialises in contract manufacturing for the medical, optics and electronics industries. The main body of the cuvette — a diagnostic life-sciences product — is injection moulded and a delicate assembly operation performed before it is delivered.

As the robot would be required to handle a weight of less than 5gm, it was decided that the 1kg payload Fanuc Robotics M-1ia robot was suitable.

The robot works to place flexible filters into the moulding and manoeuvres the part into place.
