Fike has announced the expansion of its explosion isolation product offering with the explosion isolation pinch valve (EIPV).

The EIPV has been launched in response to increasing demand for cost-effective solutions created by new directives, codes and standards.

When used in conjunction with other Fike explosion protection system components, the EIPV is said to provide a cost-effective solution to prevent deflagration propagation through interconnecting pipes or conveying lines to additional process equipment or operating locations.

The EIPV system uses a heavy duty food-grade elastomeric sleeve, high-speed solenoid valves, pneumatic accumulator; high- and low-pressure alarm switches, and shut off/bleed/manual operation valves.

It provides a mechanical obstruction to explosion flame and pressure and offers fast closure with minimised installation distance from vessel.

No pyrotechnical devices are required to activate the valve and no reaction forces upon closure.

Supervised accumulator pressure is included.

The EIPV is suitable for vertical or horizontal mounting and can be operated and reset by the user.

It is virtually maintenance free, uses standard plant air and has a sanitary design, with the elastomeric sleeve extending to the full face of the flange, eliminating potential for bacterial contamination.

A full-port design reduces pressure drop and avoids material accumulation.

The product is available in a variety of international flange standards and sleeve materials.
