Flir Systems has introduced the K-Series range of uncooled radiometric cameras specifically designed for fire-fighting applications.

The K-Series cameras can provide thermal images in total darkness and are also able to ‘see’ through smoke, rain and fog. They are therefore suitable for helping fire fighters navigate through smoke-filled buildings and for locating victims.

The cameras are also suitable for use in search-and-rescue operations. Thermal images can be stored in-camera and later used to enhance a post-incident report.

The series comprises two models: the Flir K50 produces thermal images up to 320 x 240 pixels; and the Flir K40, targeted at users who do not require such high quality, has a 240 x 180 pixel array.
