Flir Systems has introduced a 100mm lens for its X6500sc series of thermal-imaging cameras. The motorised F/2 lens provides a 5.5º horizontal field of view, making it suitable for measuring the temperature of distant targets.

The new lens will benefit applications including the safe, remote temperature measurements of tyres, brake disks, airbag deployment and other fast-moving objects observed from a distance.

Ultrasonic Smart Lens (USL) technology is embedded in every motorised lens available for the X6500sc series of cameras. USL technology enhances the speed at which the lenses operate, as well as improving positioning accuracy. This enables fast and precise auto-focusing.

In addition, because USL lenses use ultrasonic motors, the user can still adjust the focus manually, which is not possible using standard technologies.

  • The Flir X6500sc cameras are designed to provide ultra-sensitive and accurate measurements, ease of use and advanced connectivity in a compact system.
