DVI2USB from Epiphan Systems is a flexible external frame grabber for integration into custom solutions, as well as general video-capture usage.

The dual-mode analogue/digital video-capture device is designed with medical, military and scientific industries in mind.

As such, there is no loss of quality and capture resolutions as high as 1,920 x 1,200, with capture rates up to 60 frames per second, are supported.

Physically, DVI2USB has one DVI-I input and a USB output.

A VGA-to-DVI adapter is included for VGA capture and HDMI to DVI adapters enable the device to capture an HDMI signal.

DVI2USB works by taking a VGA, DVI, HDMI signal and converting it to a digital video stream that can be read through the USB 2.0 port.

Epiphan Systems provides free ADK, API and drivers for the DVI2USB, all which can be downloaded directly from the Epiphan website.

These drivers are compatible with Directshow in Windows, Quicktime in Mac OS and Video4Linux in Linux.

This means that users can develop their own application to be used with DVI2USB and are able to use already-developed third-party applications such as Adobe Premiere, Windows Media Encoder, Apple Quicktime and Virtualdub.

DVI2USB also ships with its own software for Windows, Linux and Mac OS, which allows users to capture individual frames, record videos using any codec, or broadcast the captured video over a LAN or internet conenction.

In addition to these features, the DVI2USB software also has a scheduling feature, image cropping and colour correction.
