Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has introduced Himod Flatseal, a range of gaskets that is designed to satisfy the requirements of gasket applications within aerospace, chemical and processing industries.

The flagship product of the range is Himod Flatseal36, which is claimed to have the best pressure-to-temperature ratio of any gasket on the market.

It can be used universally in a variety of areas of the aerospace, chemical and processing industries at temperatures up to +550C (1,020F).

This allows customers to benefit from standardising gaskets throughout their production plants.

The range consists of seven products that will satisfy the requirements of the majority of gasket applications within aerospace, chemical and processing industries.

It offers compliance with virtually all relevant standards including FDA and those for blowout and fugitive emissions.

Initially, the Himod Flatseal will be supplied in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.

Containing no bonding or filling agents, Himod Flatseal36 is made of expanded graphite with a purity of more than 99.5 per cent and flat metal inserts of acid-proof stainless steel.

Its material profile meets high safety requirements, while the metal insert is said to guarantee easy handling and a strong performance in the flange.

It allows gaskets to be standardised throughout the processing facility.

Himod Flatseal10 is a good all-rounder that is suitable for a broad variety of standard applications and for use in average temperatures and pressures.

Himod Flatseal15 is suitable for steam, oils, fuels and hydrocarbons, and shows good resistance to them.

Himod Flatseal20 offers long-term resistance to high pressure, is blowout resistant, and complies with fugitive emissions standards.

Himod Flatseal34 is a metal insert that offers easier handling and strong performance in a variety of general and chemical processing applications.

Himod Flatseal43 and 45 are suitable for food contact and offer improved performance compared with conventional polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) flat gaskets.

Flat gaskets are primarily fitted in flanges and widely used in sanitary and industrial applications.

For more demanding petrochemical and chemical processing sectors, materials that are compliant with blowout and fugitive emission regulations are offered.

For food and beverage applications, materials compliant with stringent food contact standards are provided.

In addition, in the aerospace industry flat gaskets are fitted in bleed air, pressure and condition systems, as well as pipes, ducts and bellows.
