GSR Technology has released a series of computer-on-module (COM) products incorporating the latest Intel Atom E600 series processors and the EG20T controller hub in the Q7 form factor.

Built on 45nm process technology with an integrated memory controller and graphics engine, it eliminates the need to have a northbridge or a southbridge to deliver these functions.

This two-chip solution creates a tightly coupled system architecture, providing higher performance than three-chip platform solutions.

In addition, the platform includes Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, which enables each processor core to handle two instruction threads and provide a significant increase in performance.

The GSR700B support is provided for 512MByte of DDR2 800 MHz SDRAM system memory and a Gigabit LAN controller.

Additional features include an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 600 graphics engine with LVDS and SDVO interfaces providing dual-independent video display capability for graphics-intensive and multimedia applications.

The ultra-low-power integrated 3D graphics with high-definition hardware video decoder and encoder engine improves the graphic performance on previous Atom processors by up to 50 per cent, according to the company.
