James Walker has published a guide to its Chevron (also known as Shallex), Lofilm, Lion Expanding Packing, Lofilm HD and Solosele G products.

Of particular interest to many users will be the comparisons of seal geometry and operational benefits between the different seal configurations available.

The new Heavy Duty Hydraulic Sealing Products Guide can be downloaded in PDF format from James Walker’s website and is also available as a printed brochure.

James Walker recently replaced 16 sets of its hydraulic seals on the Thames Barrier.

These valves open and close the barrier’s four main 3,300 tonne gates and have been working reliably for more than 20 years.

’Under such high-risk conditions, specifying the correct type and quality of seal is obviously essential – corners can’t be cut – and we had this in mind when putting together our new guide to seals for heavy-duty hydraulic applications,’ said Andy Parkinson, business-development manager for heavy-duty hydraulics at James Walker.

James Walker and Co

James Walker is a dynamic global manufacturing organisation that supplies a vast range of high performance fluid sealing products and associated knowledge-based services to virtually every sector of industry. Our activities range from research and development, product application, manufacture and supply, to plant monitoring, on-site maintenance and seal refurbishment. An intimate knowledge of the industrial plant and processes used by our customers worldwide enables us to solve their fluid sealing problems with best value systems designed to minimise total cost of ownership.
