Henkel has launched a vehicle repair and maintenance (VRM) website that provides product information and applications guidance for workshops and distributors. Brands include TEROSON, LOCTITE and PLASTIC PADDING. The first 300 site visitors to sign up to be part of the Henkel VRM community will receive a welcome box of freebies.

Henkel said its products enhance the appearance of car interiors, give exterior bodywork the cutting edge and torque up the powertrain, creating competitive advantage for customers along the entire value chain of car manufacturing through to aftermarket repair and maintenance.

The site essentially splits into four main categories: windscreens; body repair; body protection; and mechanical repair. A few keystrokes gives access to a comprehensive description of popular products in each of these application areas and there are also sections on cleaning and pre-treatment, small and smart repairs and equipment.

Online tutorials provide comprehensive step-by-step guides on the most common applications in bodyshop and mechanical repair.

Website visitors can learn about metal and plastic repair, seam sealing and bonding, as well as applications to repair mechanical parts that keep the engine running, such as retaining, gasketing, threadlocking and thread sealing. Direct glazing and glass repair are covered too. Initially these tutorials are available via PC but a mobile version is in the pipeline.

The first 300 Henkel VRM website users to complete an on-line tutorial will receive a mini Bluetooth speaker and there are further opportunities to win prizes, both for the individual and their workshop.

The launch of the online portal is accompanied by the Henkel Ultimate Challenge. Contestants simply upload a photograph and/or a self-made video of their team explaining, in their own words, why they deserve to be crowned the Best Workshop in the UK. The team can comprise up to four people and the more imaginative and entertaining the entry, the better.

The competition is open to every workshop for bodywork and mechanical repair and all Henkel VRM website visitors are invited to vote for their favourite. This voting system will provide an initial shortlist and the ultimate winner will be independently selected.

The winning team will be Henkel’s guests at the 2015 British Grand Prix at Silverstone on 5 July 2015. The team will have a track view of the race from the comfort of the Brooklands Restaurant and the prize — valued at more than £5,000 — includes breakfast, champagne lunch, afternoon tea and complimentary bar service. Runner-up team members will each receive a Sonos Play 1 system.
