A sealing system for infrared emitters developed and manufactured by Heraeus Noblelight has been granted IP65 certification. The sealing system allows the use of infrared systems for outdoor heating processes, where it will protect against the ingress of dirt or spray water.

The IP65 protected infrared emitter

Infrared emitters from Heraeus Noblelight are made from hard-wearing and shock-resistant quartz glass; as a result, they are suitable for outdoor applications. The electrical connectors for such emitters are fed into the connection box via a special seal.

The sealing system underwent many days of testing by the VDE, the German Certification body, in Offenbach in June and July and proved itself totally sealed to dust and spray, conforming with and satisfying VDE 0710 DIN40050, which relates to IP65.

Infrared heat is used when heating processes are required to meet particular requirements in terms of place, time or quality.

According to the company, infrared heat offers significant advantages over other heating techniques in terms of its high efficiency and heat transfer capacity, fast response times, heat transfer without contact and ability to match the infrared emitter to the product in terms of optimum infrared wavelength and emitter shape.
