Heraeus Noblelight has custom designed a carbon infrared oven for Premier Foods to replace a hot rinse system on its cooking-sauce production line.

Premier Foods manufactures a range of products, including Batchelors soups, Bisto gravy and Branston pickle.

The oven was installed to help prevent the thermal shocks and breakages of jars when they are filled with sauce, which can be as hot as 94°C.

The 124kW oven features two sections — one with four 24kW zones and one with two 13.8kW zones — and an optical pyrometer, which measures the temperature of the jars as they leave the oven.
