According to bearing specialist igus, by switching to igus drylin linear bearings, design engineers will be able to see potential weight savings. By replacing a typical steel shaft and steel linear bearing with an igus RJMP bearing and hollow aluminium shaft, the company says that the weight reduction of the system can be as much as 85 per cent.

Additionally, as the drylin RJMP bearings are made of a corrosion-resistant tribopolymer that has a temperature range of -20°C to +60°C, they are suitable for a range of different demanding environments and applications.
