An initiative from IMO has attracted new business from North America and Asia, while strengthening the company’s export sales to mainland Europe and generating interest from its UK base.

In its first three months, the Drives Scrappage Scheme has generated nearly 100 new enquiries from the USA and Canada, as well as the Philippines, India and China, The scheme offers customers a discount for swapping their existing drives for a new, high-performance, variable-speed drive from IMO’s Jaguar range.

Interest in the whole range, from the micro inverter CUB through to the more powerful VXR and VXG drives, comes from a variety of applications – from small to medium conveyor systems through to large cranes and hoists.

IMO’s dedicated website explains how customers can take part in the scheme, offers help with financing options available through Energy Efficiency Loans from the Carbon Trust, and allows customers to make a request to order a new drive online.

All ‘scrapped’ drives will be disposed of responsibly and in accordance with the DEFRA publication Best Available Treatment Recovery and Recycling Techniques (BATRRT), and Treatment of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
