Subcontract machining capacity at Inca Geometric has been expanded to service a new long-term contract to machine valve bodies, which the company will discuss at Southern Manufacturing 2011.

At the event, the company will showcase the results of its GBP500,000 investment programme that includes a travelling column vertical machining centre and a horizontal borer.

Installed towards the end of 2010, the investment follows rapidly behind an earlier installation of a heavy-duty CNC lathe.

Alongside its subcontract machining capability, the company has experience in the design and build of special-purpose machines, test rigs and multi-head systems for use in the automotive, off-road transmission and pump and valve sectors.

Other markets serviced include defence, leisure and oil and gas.

The latest round of investment offers CNC turning up to 610mm diameter by 3,000mm long, while the horizontal borer has 2,200mm X-axis travel and a table with up to 5-tonne capacity.

The vertical machining centre, with its moving column configuration, lends itself to pendulum milling to increase levels of productivity.
