Worldskills London 2011 has chosen Fluke test tools to be used by competitors within the Industrial Control skill category of the competition, which will be held over four days at Excel London from 5–8 October 2011.

Worldskills London 2011 will be a skills competition in which more than 1,000 young people, from more than 50 different countries/regions, will compete in their chosen skill, of which there are 46 in total.

Around 150,000 visitors are expected to attend the four-day competition, where more than 100 colleges from across the UK will be showcasing their skills, while industry experts will be on hand to share their knowledge and offer careers advice.

Fluke’s 115 Digital Multimeter (DMM), 9040 Rotation Meter and 322 Clamp Meter have been selected for participants to use in the Industrial Control section of the competition, which involves electrical and automation installation, typically in industries such as electricity, water, oil and gas.

Key product features

Fluke 115 Digital Multimeter (DMM)

  • Compact true-rms meter designed for a variety of electrical and electronic testing applications
  • Measures DC and AC voltages to 600V, as well as resistance, frequency, continuity and capacitance

Fluke 9040 Phase Rotation Indicator

  • Measures phase rotation in all areas where three-phase supplies are used to feed motors, drives and electrical systems
  • Provides clear indication of the three-phase via an LCD display
  • Allows rapid determination of phase sequence and has voltage up to 700V, for commercial and industrial applications
  • Does not require a battery

Fluke 332 Clamp Meter

  • Designed to verify the presence of load current, AC voltage and continuity of switches, circuits, contacts and fuses
  • Has a small form factor to fit tight spaces
  • Measures AC current to 400A with 0.1A resolution; and 40A with 0.01A resolution
  • Measures resistance, continuity and voltages up to 600V AC/DC, with a resolution of 0.1 up to 400V

Fluke Calibration

Fluke Corporation was founded in 1948, specialising in electrical test and measurement products. Early in its history, Fluke recognised that the very best electrical metrology would be needed to support its products and undertook to develop this capability. From this activity, the calibration business was born. Over the years, many breakthrough calibration products were introduced, establishing Fluke as a leader in electrical metrology.

In 2000, Fluke acquired Wavetek Precision Measurement. In 2001, Fluke’s calibration business expanded into the temperature field with the acquisition of Hart Scientific and then into pressure and gas flow with the acquisition of DH Instruments (2007), followed by Ruska and Pressurements (2010).

The unified business’s unmatched breadth and depth in metrology puts Fluke Calibration in a unique position to deliver today’s and tomorrow’s calibrations solutions to customers who demand the very best, supported by an organisation they can count on for the long term.
