Piab has launched the PiInline range of inline vacuum ejectors based on Coax technology, which are said to be well suited for handling components in the electronics industry.

The company said one benefit is that the ejectors work at low feed pressure.

Production stops are a common problem in the electronics industry because it is difficult to maintain feed pressure at 0.4-0.6MPa, which is the required level for conventional inline ejectors.

‘With PiInline we have succeeded in developing effective ejectors that deliver maximum vacuum performance at feed pressures as low as 0.18MPa,’ said Jan Schieche, global product manager – pump and accessories at Piab.

Thanks to the low feed pressure, PiInline increases reliability and productivity on production lines in the electronics industry.

Another benefit, according to Piab, is that PiInline is a more eco-friendly solution than single-stage ejectors.

The smallest model, the Micro, uses on average 50 per cent less energy than comparable products, which means less energy consumption and lower carbon emissions.

Sound levels are also lower, which creates a better working environment, the company said.

PiInline comes in three sizes: Midi, Mini and Micro.

Each size is available with a choice of three special options to enable optimised performance and capacity for the specific application.

Xi offers the best vacuum flow and efficiency at deep vacuum levels, final vacuum level is at approximately 95 per cent.

It works best with smooth materials such as glass and plastic and is especially useful in the metal and plastics industries where components are difficult to pick up.

Items can be gripped with small suction cups moving over the surface, therefore avoiding more expensive lifting techniques.

Si offers large flows at low and medium vacuum levels and is recommended for applications where leakage is a significant factor, such as in the packaging industry, and where ejectors are required with large flows to enable reliable gripping, lifting and moving.

Pi (or Bi in smallest models) offers low feed pressure of 0.18-0.3MPa and is suitable for factories in industries with relatively low or fluctuating air pressure.

There may be other pneumatic components in the machines that are sensitive to high pressure.

The product range is designed so that end users in factories can easily replace single-stage inline ejectors.
