Applitec has extended its Iso Line of cutting tools to incorporate a 35deg series of inserts and holders for intricate and highly accurate machining applications.

Like all products in the Applitec Iso-Line, the cutter bodies are available in sizes from 8 by 8 to 20 by 20mm in 2mm increments and can be ordered as left or right hand, with a neutral series also an option.

The Iso-Line has two left and right hand cutter body designations available, with an additional two bodies specifically for back turning and form machining.

This makes the 35deg Iso-Line from Applitec a truly universal cutting tool for all intricate turning operations.

Expanding upon its universal attributes, this Iso-Line enables customers to conduct back and front machining as the cutter allows both cutting edges on the insert to be utilised.

This can reduce machining cycle times and set-up times, and it also allows the customer to use the new Applitec 35deg cutter as a universal tool for a multitude of processes.

Suitable for use on sliding-head turning centres and CNC turning centres used in the medical, electronic, pharmaceutical and automotive industries, the 35deg Iso-line provides a diverse range for small-component manufacture.

The inserts are available in two sizes with a cutting face length of 11mm and an actual cutting length of 7mm.

With an insert radius option of 0.03, 0.08, 0.1 or 0.2, the 35deg line optimises high precision and accurate machining.

The inserts have a wiper effect that delivers good surface finishes and chip control.

The new inserts are available in Applitec’s TiAlN, TiN and TMax micro grain grades with a PVD coating.

This enables the new offering to machine a universal range of materials that includes free cutting steels and aluminium.

For the machining of medical or aerospace-grade materials such as titanium and inconel or additional materials that create high temperatures when machining, Applitec has developed its uncoated inserts that are available in its specialised K10 and K20 grades.
