Impulse has announced the release of IEI’s Sailor-12A, an IP67 waterproof panel PC.

The Sailor-12A, the winner of the Best Choice of Computex Taipei Award 2009, features a rugged aluminium chassis and LCD touch panel, making it suitable for use under an extreme range of temperatures and in harsh environments.

The Sailor-12A is tested for immersion in water up to 1m deep.

It is suitable for use in mission-critical applications in the marine, avionics, military, mining, engineering and industrial markets.

The Sailor-12A features a fanless low-voltage Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor coupled with the Intel Mobile 945GSE chipset, offering an extremely efficient computing platform.

It also supports up to 2GB of 533MHz DDR2 high-speed memory.

A rugged die-cast aluminium enclosure helps to dissipate heat, thereby reducing overheating and eliminating the need for a fan.

The high speed 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi module and internal antenna provide broadband-speed browsing and uninterrupted wireless connectivity.

In addition, a 2.5in SATA HDD bay and Compact Flash II slot offer a choice of storage options.

Impulse offers flexible OS options including Windows CE 6.0, Windows XP Embedded and Linux.

The Sailor-12A uses reliable self-locking, threaded M12 connectors for LAN, RS-232, selectable RI/5V/12V RS-232/422/485, audio, USB and 9-28V DC power-adaptor connections.

The Sailor-12A also features an automotive applied CAN-Bus interface utilising the same IP67 protection.

Matching IP67 approved cables can be supplied to order.

The standard Sailor-12A includes a 12.1in TFT LCD touch panel with 400cd/m of brightness.

A built-in four-range ambient light sensor automatically detects the amount of light and adjusts the brightness of the screen to save system power and reduce user eye-strain.

The Sailor-12ASR adds anti-reflection (AR) technology and improved luminance through edge lighting to achieve super high brightness (up to 1000cd/m) and higher contrast (700:1), ensuring excellent visibility in bright daylight or marine conditions.
