Kistler Instruments has launched Type 8766A miniature triaxial accelerometers, which are suitable for automotive, aerospace and industrial applications.

The accelerometers are available in high-temperature types with an operating temperature range of -54C to +165C and integrated high-gain microelectronics to ensure precision and long-term reliability in harsh operating conditions.

Typical applications include automotive engine bay and under-vehicle measurements, aerospace subsystem vibration testing and industrial quality-control applications where high temperatures may be encountered.

The three models in the range – +/-50g, +/-250g and +/-500g – use the Kistler Piezostar shear element design, which provides a wide operating frequency range and long-term precision and stability.

The sensor design combines Piezostar crystals and integral hybrid microelectronics to achieve very low sensitivity variation over the wide operating temperature range, compared with quartz and ceramic sensing element designs.

The hermetically sealed, welded-titanium, ground-isolated, IP68 housing permits operation in harsh, dirty or wet environments and a Transducer Electronics Data Sheet (TEDS) option is available to simplify installation and setup.

Mounting by a central mounting hole tapped 6-32 UNC on each of three sides of the cube design provides maximum mounting flexibility and allows the miniature four-pin ceramic connector to be positioned throughout 360deg for cable orientation.

Alternatively, wax mounting may be used where stud mounting is not possible.

The Type 8766A triaxial accelerometers can be powered by any Kistler power supply coupler or industry-standard Integrated Electronic Piezoelectric (IEPE)-compatible power source.
