Laidler Associates is running a series of short, free-to-attend machinery safety seminars suitable for mechanical or electrical engineers as well as factory managers.

‘Practical Solutions’ is the main focus of the day, and a virtual-reality environment will be used to represent as accurately as possible a genuine production environment.

Throughout the day, delegates will be able to assess common hazards and to correct them, taking the environment from unsafe to safe.

The workshops will be of particular interest to mechanical or electrical engineers involved in the specification, design, maintenance or modification of machinery; they will also be useful for managers responsible for the production, maintenance or design of factory equipment or anyone else connected with specifying and purchasing machinery.

The workshops will provide professionals in all of these categories with an opportunity to ensure that their knowledge of machinery safety is accurate and up to date, thereby minimising the risk of non-compliance.

Workshops will be held at locations around the UK and will specifically cover requirements relating to CE marking and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).

Topics discussed during the day will include current and forthcoming legislation, EN standards and their effect on industry, risk assessment and its implications and safety control systems.

In addition to the formal programme, the workshops will include a question-and-answer session where those attending can seek expert advice and guidance on their own specific problems in relation to machinery safety.

The Laidler Associates Machinery Safety Workshops are one-day events, with refreshments and lunch provided.

The workshops will take place at: the Ramada Hotel in Bolton on 1 March 2011; the Ramada Elcott Park in Newbury on 5 April 2011; the Ramada Hotel in Solihull on 3 May 2011; the TUV SUD Product Service in Fareham on 7 June 2011; a yet-to-be-announced location in Scotland on 5 July 2011; the Ramada Hotel in Bolton on 2 August 2011; the Ramada Elcott Park in Newbury on 6 September 2011; the Ramada Hotel in Solihull on 1 October 2011; the TUV SUD Product Service in Fareham on 1 November 2011; and a yet-to-be-announced location in Scotland on 6 December 2011.
