Laser Components has announced that it now has the capability to process sapphire fibre directly using a newly developed polishing technique. Sapphire fibre is commonly used in processing plants in which chemical reactions must be closely monitored.

The processing of sapphire fibre is much more involved than that of glass fibre due to the crystalline structure of the material.

The company said its new sapphire-fibre processing options, which obtain optimised polished surfaces by not fracturing the crystals, enable it to achieve fast delivery times, offer custom solutions and assemble fibres with all common connector systems at attractive prices.
