Micro-Epsilon has launched the latest version of its 3D laser profile scanner for the measurement of angles, steps and positions.

The Scancontrol 2700 is now available with an Ethernet interface as standard, with Firewire still available if preferred.

For users that regularly work with open connectivity systems, the Ethernet network option is more suitable.

Using this interface, the laser profile scanner can be integrated to existing industrial networks.

The scanner is configured using supplied software, which enables it to be configured to a unique IP address.

This means the profile data transmission can also be performed via this interface.

The Scancontrol 2700 provides up to 64,000 calibrated measuring points per second in real time via an Ethernet or Firewire interface, without requiring any additional hardware (controller).

The software development kit (SDK) and function library (LLT.dll) supplied as standard with the sensor provide the user with a communications platform that offers flexibility and performance via direct integration with most common programming languages.

The Scancontrol 2700 series of laser profile scanners is available with measuring ranges of 25mm, 50mm and 100mm.

The models in the 2700 series have a compact housing with an integrated controller.

This compact design means the scanner is suitable for a wide range of machine designs and automation systems, where space is often restricted.

The Scancontrol 2700 offers a compact design allowing it to be used for applications in which multiple sensors are required or if the sensor needs to be mounted on a moving object such as a motorised stage or robot.

The sensors can be used to measure profiles such as adhesive beads, weld seams, grooves and gaps.

The Scancontrol 2710 version can be used to calculate these parameters inside the sensor itself and then outputs the calculated value as either digital or analogue signals.

With over 45 years experience and more than 15,000 customers worldwide, Micro-Epsilon understands the need for accurate, robust, intelligent sensors and measurement systems.

If you are measuring any type of displacement / position, temperature, speed or colour parameters, Micro-Epsilon sensors and systems provide market-leading performance, together with the fastest measuring rates, highest operating temperature ranges and smart interface capabilities. From simple, low cost sensors to high volume, customer-specific OEM solutions, Micro-Epsilon will have athe correct measurement solution for your application.

Using both contact and non-contact measurement techniques, Micro-Epsilon boasts one of the largest ranges of displacement sensors including 1D, 2D & 3D laser optical, confocal chromatic, eddy current, capacitive, inductive, draw-wire and time-of-flight technologies. Measuring ranges are from nanometers to kilometers!

For temperature measurement, there is a comprehensive range of non-contact infrared temperature sensors and thermal imaging cameras capable of measuring up to that include intelligent software packages to support configuration, analysis and management during the application. LED analysers, fibre optic sensors and Colour recognition sensors measure true colour using L*A*B and CIE.

Micro-Epsilon sensors are used throughout almost all industries: from automotive to aerospace, motorsport to metal production, semiconductor to subsea. Whether it’s an R&D, test, inspection, OEM or a process control application, Micro Epsilon measurement engineers can provide the right measurement solution.
