How to go about introducing Lean processes, develop more efficient manufacturing methods and shorten production cycle times is something that Matthias Wistel, process engineering manager at Gaudlitz, had been thinking about for some time. He had long wanted to increase productivity, improve efficiency and reduce downtime.

After several discussions with Werma, Matthias Wistel decided to introduce the Werma WIN system in the mould shop. The mould shop contains different brands of machine with different operating characteristics. Nevertheless Werma was able to configure the signal towers and WIN system to comply with the existing production structure and processes precisely so that these processes could then be optimised.

WERMA is the leading manufacturer of a wide range of Beacons and Sounders and accessories, often referred to as stack lights, signal towers and Andon systems. Products are designed and made at the HQ in Germany and the full range is available from its UK operation based in Wellingborough.

The range consists of signal towers and beacons available with both LEDs and filament bulbs together with a comprehensive range of sounders; sirens, buzzers and horns in a wide range of sound output levels.

Principal function is to provide optical and audible warning of machine fault or machine shop danger where such beacons and sounders are commonly installed.

Andon lights, as beacons are now commonly referred to, are often used as “call for action” systems to improve efficiency of for example line side supply of components. Manually operated lights alert remote departments wirelessly to resolve calls for action.

Many innovative features such as USB connectivity and wireless monitoring systems are also available.

There is also a comprehensive range of ex-proof signal products compliant with the latest ATEX directives.

The full range of products can be found on www.werma.co.uk where an Eshop facility is available for all major credit cards.

All WERMA products are manufactured to strictly controlled quality standards (DIN EN ISO 9001:2000).
