Learndirect has launched a funded course aimed at promoting the value of information and communication technology.

The syllabus 5 ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) course is aimed at adult learners aged 19 and above, and is designed for individuals who need to demonstrate full competence in the use of personal and common computer applications relating to Information Technology.

The course has been reclassified as a full Level 2 qualification and can now meet government targets for vocational qualifications.

The course duration varies depending on each person’s learning pattern and there are four modules that usually allow for one month per training section.

Learning can be done from home or in the Leigh-based training centre, with fortnightly reviews by personal tutors.

Alliance Learning is actively encouraging potential adult learners to enquire about the range of courses it offers in support of career development.

Learndirect offers a range of courses in Maths, English, Information Technology, Business and Management.

Candidates must be in receipt of a means-tested benefit and have no existing qualifications at Level 2 or above to receive full funding for the course.

Applicants not meeting these criteria will be asked to pay a contribution towards the cost of the ECDL course.
