Mouser Electronics is now stocking the BeagleBone Green Wireless, a Linux-based development board from BeagleBoard.org and Seeed Studio. The BeagleBone Green Wireless is the first board in the BeagleBone community to feature a wireless connection, boasting both 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.1 low energy connectivity in place of the BeagleBone Green’s Ethernet connection. The BeagleBone Green Wireless contains Seeed Studio’s plug-and-play Grove connectors to help developers and designers capitalize on Seeed’s modular Grove system and the board’s general purpose I/O (GPIO) expansion capabilities. The new board also includes four USB 2.0 hosts, expanding the board’s interface options.

Seeed Studio’s BeagleBone Green Wireless, available from Mouser Electronics, offers the same excellent performance as the BeagleBone Green, both based on the AM335x 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor from Texas Instruments. The board provides 512MBytes of DDR3 RAM, 4GBytes of eMMC flash storage, microSD slot, and two PRU 32-bit microcontrollers, plus a 3D graphics accelerator and NEON floating-point for enhanced multimedia and user experience. The board’s built-in 2.4GHz TI WiLink Module supports multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) to further speed data transmission. The board also includes 65 possible digital I/Os from the dual 46-pin headers.

Complementing the BeagleBone Green Wireless, the Grove Starter Kit for BeagleBone Green contains 10 Grove modules and three step-by-step guides to help makers quickly build projects. The BeagleBone Green Wireless also supports the same expansion boards (called capes) as the BeagleBone Black and BeagleBone Green.

The BeagleBone Green Wireless ships with Linux and BeagleBoard’s Cloud9 integrated development environment (IDE) on the eMMC, and also supports Debian, Ubuntu, and many other distributions of Linux; Android; and other open-source operating systems.
