Low Power Radio Solutions (LPRS) has been selected to supply wireless key-fob controllers for Keen Electronics’ range of alarms for caravans and boats.

The alarm systems are designed to protect caravans, motor homes and boats, and their contents, from being stolen.

They also provide occupiers with a panic alarm for their personal protection against intruders.

The alarms can work with satellite tracking systems, providing higher levels of security.

Each LPRS key fob sends a unique coded signal to the alarm system, which contains an LPRS radio receiver/decoder module.

The output from this module controls the PIC microcomputer forming the heart of the alarm.

The buttons on the fob can switch the alarm on or off and can trigger the siren using the panic-alarm facility.

The microcomputer scans all of the alarm sensors (PIR, leg sensor, road lighting plug and leisure battery, for example) and triggers the siren when a violation is detected.

The siren sounds for two minutes (for minimum noise nuisance) and then resets, awaiting the next violation.

Some alarms can also remotely switch a caravan’s awning light on or off.

The Keen alarm systems controlled by LPRS wireless key fobs provide remote-controlled alarms with ranges of more than 30ft (9m), the remote-controlled switching of the awning light from more than 30ft away, an instant-operation intruder alarm and a panic alarm by pressing both buttons on the remote key fob (the alarm must be ‘on’).

Keen alarm systems are guaranteed for three years and are suitable for DIY installation; alternatively, they can be fitted by most caravan dealers.

They benefit owners by attracting insurance premium discounts from Caravanguard, The Caravan Club and K.Drewe (Insurance).

They have been factory fitted to many models produced by Avondale, Buccanner, Carlight, Compass, Elddis Lunar and Vanmaster.

The Keen alarm system is controlled by the LPRS AMTX2B-4-ER Easy-Radio Transmitter.

Using AM technology, this multi-function handheld alarm transmitter features embedded Easy-Radio software and offers a range of transmit functions.

The ergonomic design is splash proof, has light-emitting-diode function indication and transmits a unique ID.

LPRS also supplies a matching receiver module, called LM-RXAM2433.

Low Power Radio Solutions

LPRS Ltd (Low Power Radio Solutions) is a privately owned ISM band
‘easy-Radio’ radio module manufacturer and distributor of Circuit Design,
Prowave and Airwave transmitters, receivers, transceivers and antennas.
Their sales team is based in Witney, Oxfordshire where as their Technical
Centre is in Warrington, Cheshire.

easy-Radio comes in transmitter, receiver and transceiver modules and as a
pendant transmitter. Operating frequency for the modules is either
433-434MHz (ER400 series) or 868-870MHz for Europe and 902-928MHz for USA
(ER900 series). As they’re based on the Chipcon’s RF ICs, the modules also
provide user-programmable features including frequency of operation, power
output and data rate.

The easy-Radio (ER) ERx00TS transmitter, Erx00RS receiver and Erx00TRS
transceiver incorporate ‘easy-Radio’ technology to provide high performance,
simple to use radio devices that can transfer data over a range of up to 250
metres Line Of Sight (LOS). Furthermore ‘easy-Radio’ technology allows
frequency, data rate and power output to be optimised for customer specific
applications. The embedded software reduces design and development time
significantly.

Applications:

Handheld Terminals.
Environmental Sense & Control.
Vehicle to Base Station Data Transfer.
Remote Data Acquisition.
Electronic Point of Sale Equipment etc.
