Michael Smith Engineers is offering the Universal Mag Drive range of Viking internal gear pumps.

These pumps are interchangeable seal-less models ideal for pumping hazardous hard-to-seal liquids or for applications where low maintenance is important.

The Universal Mag Drive series includes models that provide flows up to 45 m3/Hr at pressures up to 14bar.

These pumps offer a simple solution for upgrading existing conventionally sealed pumps from packings or mechanical seals to a seal-less design, eliminating the risks associated with seal failure.

Multiple port configurations and the wide range of sizes remove the need for expensive and time-consuming re-piping.

The pump design also enables short-term dry-run capability and bi-directional operation without the need for modification or disassembly.

This enables filling or emptying with one pump, which helps to minimise system costs.

Other features include dual thrust control bearings, which reduce pump wear and ensure positive control of rotor position for more accurate flow, and an externally adjustable relief valve that can be adjusted while in service, maximising process up-time.

An adjustable rotor clearance enables high volumetric efficiency, whether pumping thin or viscous liquids.

Viking’s in-canister bushing and hollow shaft design extend pump-life.

The pump’s construction allows positive cooling flow, which minimises the potential for thermal product degradation.

These pumps are available in cast iron, steel and stainless steel and provide the highest level of liquid containment available.

They are suitable for transferring hard-to-seal liquids such as isocyanates, sodium hydroxide, adhesives and epoxy resins.

They can also be used for hazardous reactive liquids such as volatile organic chemicals, LPG and ammonia.

Typical applications include 24/7 operation in refineries, chemical and polymer plants, paper mills or wherever seal-less, leak-free and low maintenance pumping is required.

Michael Smith Engineers

Michael Smith Engineers Ltd,  the UK’s leading pump specialist for difficult liquid handling applications since 1971,  provide representation in the UK for specialist pump manufacturers, with particular emphasis on sealless leak free pump technology.  Our product range includes magnetically driven gear pumps, magnetically driven centrifugal pumps (including metal, plastic and lined centrifugals),  canned motor centrifugal pumps, peristaltic pumps, tubular diaphragm pumps, metering pumps, valveless piston pumps, turbine  pumps,  high pressure diaphragm pumps, vane pumps and barrel emptying pumps. We can supply pumps in a wide choice of wetted materials for liquids between 0.2 cP and 500,000 cP, temperatures between -50 oC and +400 oC,  capacities from nanolitres per hour to m3  per minute and can offer pumps for  high system pressures up to 350 Bar and high discharge pressures up to 500 Bar.  Corrosion resistant materials are available for many of our ranges include metallic options of stainless steel and high nickel alloys or plastic options of PVC,  polypropylene, PVDF and ETFE. The main markets we service with our ranges of pumps are the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and process sector with our larger pumps  as well as laboratories, research and development institutions and OEMs with our smaller pumps.
