maxon motor has announced that the EPOS2 motion controllers for brushed and brushless DC motors now support CANopen interfaces Kvaser and NI-XNET, in addition to the existing NI, IXXAT and Vector.

There are also new opportunities for computer platforms with serial communication, via USB or RS232, using Windows or Linux. The existing libraries for Intel/AMD (Windows 32-/64-bit, Linux 32-bit) have been further extended with a Linux 64-bit version, with the additional support of 32-bit ARMv6/v7 solutions, allowing the broad-scale use of trend platforms such as Raspberry Pi or BeagleBone.

According to the company, easy integration into a master system plays a crucial role in the success of the EPOS2. The choice of master system is freely available, using extensively documented maxon libraries to make integration of EPOS2 slave drive controllers quick and simple.
